What is an art-safe deep clean?
It is a full deep clean, room by room, that treats every artwork and antique as part of the plan instead of an obstacle. Before the team starts, each room’s pieces are noted, along with what the team may dust, what it works around and what it never touches. The rest of the room, floors, millwork, glass, baths and kitchen, gets the same top-to-bottom detail as our standard deep cleaning service. To see what that covers, read what’s included in a luxury deep clean.
What do we clean, and what do we never touch?
Some things a cleaner should touch, and some things a cleaner should never touch. This is one of the clearest lines in white-glove work.
| Item | Our team | Specialist |
|---|---|---|
| Original paintings and works on paper | Dust the wall, floor and furniture around them | Surface cleaning of the work itself goes to a conservator |
| Gilded and carved frames | Not touched | Conservator or framer |
| Stable sculpture and decorative objects | Light dry dusting with a natural-bristle brush or clean microfiber, when you approve it | Anything flaking, cracked or unstable |
| Antique furniture | Dry dusting; no sprays or polish unless you specify the product | Refinishing and repairs |
| Rugs, silk, wool and cashmere | Soft-tool vacuuming after care labels are checked | Stains and deep cleaning of fine fibers |
| Marble, stone and fine wood surfaces | pH-neutral stone cleaner, barely damp microfiber on wood | Polishing and restoration through stone refinishing partners |
When there is any doubt about whether a piece can be cleaned safely, the answer is to stop and ask.
How does our team protect art during the clean?
- No sprays near art. Cleaners are applied to the cloth away from the piece, never misted in the room where art hangs, because liquids drift into finishes and paper.
- Dry methods first. Natural-bristle brushes and clean microfiber, with light, deliberate movements.
- Careful handling. Objects are handled with clean hands or gloves as appropriate and supported from the base, never lifted by rims, handles or projecting parts. Large or valuable pieces stay where they are.
- Protected floors and paths. Equipment is carried, not dragged, and floors are protected where the team works near furniture and display pieces.
- A written room map. What was dusted, what was left alone and anything we noticed, such as dust build-up or a loose fixture, goes in the report.
Who is this service for?
Collectors who live with their art, families with inherited antiques, owners of homes with gallery walls and designer furniture, and house or estate managers who need a team that will follow a protocol. Our team is trained on marble, travertine, walnut, mahogany, custom millwork, art collections, antique furniture and designer fixtures, and these protocols are documented. We also coordinate with your conservator, art handler or registrar when you have one.
How does the process work?
- Private walkthrough. We walk the home with you or your manager and mark each piece: dust, work around or do not touch.
- Written proposal within 24 hours. Scope, team size, timing and the room map, Monday through Saturday.
- The deep clean. A fixed, insured and bonded team that has signed an NDA works through the plan room by room.
- Report and care notes. What was done, what we flagged, and how you or your staff can keep each surface in condition between visits.
- Recurring care, if you want it. Many clients move on to recurring luxury housekeeping with the same team.
Why trust FJ Luxury Services with a collection?
Because we treat your home as if it were ours. Every team member is vetted, insured, bonded and background-checked, and signs an NDA. We do not photograph homes or discuss clients. We default to eco-friendly, non-toxic products that are safe around children, pets and high-value finishes, and we use the products you specify when your conservator has a preference. For more on surfaces, read our care guide to luxury home finishes. For collectors in the city, see luxury cleaning in Beverly Hills and Bel-Air, or all areas on our luxury house cleaning in Los Angeles page.

When should you schedule an art-safe deep clean?
Most clients book one at a few clear moments: before a family event or a party, after a renovation or an installation, when a new piece arrives or a room is rehung, before the home is closed for a season, and when they return after months away. It also makes sense as the first step before recurring housekeeping, so the team learns the collection in one careful visit and the room map is in place for every visit after. If works are being moved, framed or treated, we schedule the clean around that work so the team is never in a room while a piece is off the wall or being handled by someone else.
Frequently asked questions
Do you clean paintings?
No. We dust the area around original paintings and leave the works themselves alone. When a painting needs cleaning, the right person is a specialist conservator.
Can you work with our conservator or art handler?
Yes. We follow their instructions, use the products they approve and schedule around any piece that is being moved or treated.
Do you move furniture or sculpture to clean behind it?
Only light pieces you approve, supported from the base. Heavy, fragile or valuable pieces stay in place and we clean around them.
Is an art-safe deep clean only for Beverly Hills and Bel-Air?
No. We provide it across our Los Angeles service area, including Brentwood, Malibu, the Hollywood Hills, Pacific Palisades, Calabasas and Hidden Hills.
How is an art-safe deep clean priced?
By scope after a free walkthrough: size of the home, number of rooms with art, finishes and team size. You receive a written proposal within 24 hours.
